Gopaldham
Learning Center
A Gandhian Legacy of Rural Development, Nurturing Minds and Communities Since 1980
About Us
Gopaldham Learning Center is an educational institution managed by the Shri Saurashtra Gandhiji Gramodhar Trust (Public Trust Register Number 188). Established in 1948 right after the independence in Gadhada, Saurashtra, Gujarat, by rural economist J.C. Kumarappa, the Trust was deeply influenced by Gandhian ideals. Mr Kumarappa envisioned bringing true Swaraj through rural development. Since its inception, the Trust has implemented numerous projects to improve the lives of surrounding communities.
Gopaldham, the institution was founded in 1980 to extend the Trust’s work to the rural areas of Rajkot district. Our campus, spanning approximately 51 acres, includes school facilities, farmlands, and a cowshed. Initially, Gopaldham aimed to create a supportive environment for individuals committed to rural development. Over the past four decades, the Trust has undertaken various programs in agriculture, watershed management, renewable energy (windmills and solar projects), afforestation, elementary education, and teacher training.
